Heritage
|
Comfort and safety at work have been our business since 1877. That was the year when naval captain Helly Juell Hansen came ashore and invented waterproof canvas clothing that kept those at sea dry and warm by contemporary standards. Since then,
Helly Hansen has continuously changed the perceptions of comfort and functionality through innovation and quality products.
In 1972, Helly Hansen launched polypropylene underwear which stays dry and warm against the skin. Then, fibre pile was launched in 1965, providing a new category of clothing with extraordinary thermal insulation. Helly Hansen survival suits for off shore were the first to use closed cell buoyancies for improved safety at sea in 1976. Waterproof clothing gradually developed from oiled canvas to modern lightweight PVC in the 1950's, leading to the last decade's waterproof and breathable outerwear.
Helly Hansen has been an active innovator for more than a century. Entering into a new millenium, Helly Hansen is refocusing on protective clothing for work. The synergy between the experience from the workwear market and extreme outdoor performance products, used and tested by around-the-world sailors, high altitude climbers and adventurous expeditions to the North and South Poles, makes Helly Hansen a trustworthy partner and supplier of performance outdoor workwear.
Workwear in 2001 will not just be a question of basic functionality and price points. High performance fabrics and functional designs should support high work efficiency as well as comfort, health and safety of the user. Quality fabrics and workmanship will provide long lasting products and better economy. Designs and styling will provide personal well-being and a corporate profile. It is our commitment to serve our customers with such products.
